Flushing the radiators?
Only if the system is dirty, if it is yes. Definitely. I have equipment to test system quality and experience to gauge how dirty the system could be given various factors that test equipment may not detect.
Getting a new boiler?
Yes, it should do if your boiler is 10 years or older. Often the existing install is not the perfect solution to your home anyway and getting the right heating setup for your home is always cheaper.
Getting a heat pump?
If your property is reasonable in the heat loss it currently has it will work fine and with the correct size radiators will be cheaper per month.
Is it true heat pumps only work in new builds?
No, they work in nearly all properties, it’s more down to how large the radiators are vs the heat loss of the home. Only large stone houses with high heat loss and properties with unusually large amounts of glass will struggle assuming the radiators are correctly sized.
